Curriculum

The curriculum was designed in three phases, each coinciding with one year of the student program. In year one, students and teachers learned methods for using technology to address questions of place and culture, including database development, web encoding, and project design. During year two, students conducted oral history interviews with members of the community and began to develop their skills in multimedia mapping, combining sound, video, and images to create podcasts and online documentaries. In year three, students began group research projects focused on areas of interest and utilizing information and media from their previous years’ work. This final phase of the curriculum culminated in digital exhibits created by the students to showcase what they found most interesting, relevant, and important about their community.
