Inside of the Jackie Joyner Kersee Youth Center, there is a statue of the Center's namesake surrounded by pictures of her as well. Joyner Kersee is an Olympic Medalist who was born in East St. Louis.

The Mississippi River overlook was built in the spring of 2009. The overlook is the same height as the arch. This park is different from other parks because most parks do not have a statue of the person who is named after the park.
